A good mixer, with a learning curve
this mixer was a gift from a daughter who has used one for some time and likes it. It is a good mixer, but it takes some getting used to. The design does not allow for use of alternate bowls that I own and could use with my previous (Sunbeam and Hamilton Beach) mixers. There is a learning curve for those who have been used to a mixer with a shallower bowl with a larger mouth. One of my first uses of this mexer was the cake on the Hershey Cocoa box, which calls for a cup of boiling water; and I didn't realize I should turn it off or at least go to lowest mixing speed before adding the water. I had it on medium speed, and it threw cake batter all over the counter, walls, myself, and the entire mixer, even though the plastic cover was on. The bowl is very deep and especially with the cover on, it is hard to see what I am mixing. The chute for adding ingredients works better with some things than others, resulting in some messy spills. The spatula-beater works quite well to scrape the bowl as it mixes, so I think it should be original equipment instead of something extra to buy.
